Artificial Intelligence, Just as fascinating this term is, a lot of people don’t know about it altogether. Though John McCarthy brought the term Artificial Intelligence in 1965, AI has started gaining popularity as a career choice afterward 90 ’s. Google, Apple, Amazon, and a lot of other companies have tried and introduced Artificial Intelligence in our day to day life. We are now telling Alexa to play our favorite song, and to our surprise, it works. Even after all these implementations, newbies have different kinds of myths about AI.

Let’s discuss most talked about myths about Artificial Intelligence:-

  1. Artificial Intelligence will replace human jobs — Oh yeah, We all have been here when we got to know about it, we got worried about losing our job to automation but remember we felt the same way when machines were introduced, all the workers had this myth that machines will make them lose their jobs. Instead, it created more opportunity for them and brought ease of work. Similarly, AI is something that is being trained specially for a particular task, and it will only make things easier for you and create new job opportunities.
  2. Artificial Intelligence can figure out its way with any complex data -If you think, you can feed your AI with some unstructured, random data and it will find a solution, then you are entirely wrong here. AI needs good quality data to process it and give you meaningful results. The AI engineers keep performing iteration to data and keep monitoring AI learning process to make the best out of the algorithm as the right fit for the business need.
  3. Artificial Intelligence is the same as Deep Learning or Machine Learning — A big no here. No, they aren’t the same. AI is the umbrella under which these technologies come. You train your AI with some data, and it learns a pattern, and that is Machine Learning.
  4. Artificial intelligence is for tech giant companies only — Well, another mythbuster for you. AI doesn’t always require a hefty amount of research and investment. Have you ever been retargeted by a list of similar products that you were thinking of purchasing and searched for it once? That’s AI learning your purchase preference and showing you similar products. So, AI is going to cost you if you are thinking of building something like a self-driving car, but if you are implementing to make something like a recommendation system, you can start now.
  5. Artificial Intelligence has human characteristics and will take over the world- You had this thought when you first used Siri, Right? Your phone is responding to your queries within a second, writing down things for you, remembers your favorite song. You were awestruck and terrified at the same time. AI is only helping you solve problems that humans aren’t efficient enough. It only reacts as it has been circuited too. AI is not going to be a threat to humans or take over the world. They are just intellectual advancement to our system and are here to bring some better days of ease for humans.

Artificial Intelligence has always been questioned about how fast it is growing and is this advancement good for us? AI can only learn what us humans teach it to learn. It can never have the emotional intelligence, creative thinking. AI will never be able to do what a human brain can do.
